HP Service Pack for ProLiant(SPP), when you don’t have Care Pack

We quit buying HP-servers a while back, simply because of the entry-prize and the stupendous licence-prices for Advanced ILO, support packs etc.

However we still use HP in our dev-environments, and as we move into Server 2012 R2, we also need drivers and firmware to support it on our older servers. Unfortunately, HP started requiring an active Care Pack-subscription to allow downloads of newer SPPs.
Fortunately, their FTP is still public, and a bit of browsing around yielded results.

Latest SPP can be found here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/cd-
generic/p67859018/v113584/SPP2015100.2015_0921.6.iso

The FTP-server also serves HTTP(thanks @Joe_Bloe):
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/cd-generic/p67859018/v113584/SPP2015100.2015_0921.6.iso

If I’m slow in updating latest version, check if there’s a newer one here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/cd-generic/p67859018/

The HP-server is slow and keeps disconnection clients. Use a proper FTP-client for the download to avoid cancelled downloads etc, or try HTTP.

Thanks a lot mate? Without this I definitely send my four year old (iin good working condition) Proliant Server to a recycle center rather than paying HP in order to install MS Windows Server 2012 r2 for testing purposes. HP really sucks and Green Peace should go after HP.

Thanks for the download link, HP is stupid to force people to have Care Packs to download firmware for servers they already own..
    Don’t buy HP.

Thanks so much and fuck you HP for not providing me with updates anymore

Anybody have tried to put this ISO on a DVD? Because the size is 4.7GB, and I am not sure that it is possible to put it on a DVD. Generaly, a DVD is lower than 4.7GB.

    • LUIS D AGUILAR

Just use Rufus to make it on a PenDrive, Same story for SPP or take a 16GB PD make first SPP and just copy the .ISO as it is. When SPP ask for installation point it to .ISO option and then link to the copied file on the same PD. I dont know why dont use an Excellent tool like Rufus for making .ISO to PDs…. I will think no one aroun know WTH is Rufus… Its time to Goo for it… :-) or the HP USB Tool v2.2.3.

So glad we now buy Dells. Unfortunately, some clients still want HPs so we have to deal with this. It wouldn’t be so bad if new servers actually came with this on a DVD, the way new servers used to come with the SmartStart DVDs. This bullshit ‘electronic’ distribution is just that – bullshit. I should be able to have a server drop-shipped to a client’s site and, with no other resources, save the OS install media and, obviously, a KB/Mouse/Monitor, take the server from being packed in a box to running the OS.

    Thank you very much !!!
I wasted a lot of time searching for it.
Their (HP) stupid policy led me to conclude: newer again touch HP.

  • Paul Bounds

I just love the way yer after friggin year HP goes on the path to alienate all of the independent techs out in the REAL WORLD, to support their hardware… Thanks for providing t5he SPP pack You guys are a Godsend

  • Me,here,now

Thanks to you guys for the link and thanks to HP for the 12 hour download *sheesh*

  • George No Fro Hutchings

does anyone have a working link for this please?

    • Aage A. Øvereng

It works for me. It’s extremely slow though. It was faster with an actual ftp client, rather than browser, for some reason.

      • George No Fro Hutchings

        This webpage is not available

ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT. I;’ll have to see If I can get my ftp client on it

      • George No Fro Hutchings

My VPN was blocking it. thanks for this!

  • Joe_Bloe

FYI, the FTP site serves HTTP too – just replace the ftp:// with http://.

    • Aage A. Øvereng

      Slowpoke-reply, but updated. Thanks!

  • Nenad Spasovic

    Thank you for download link.
I struggle to figure it out, why should will anyone for sake torture customers with such a things when only purpose of this software is keeping THEIR OWN servers run safely and smoothly?
I would understand if it`s usable on other servers, but this…
I loved HP once upon a time, but this is really ridicilous what`s happend with their support politic last years.

Thanks! Had to replace a blown motherboard in a old DL360 G5 whos’ bios doesn’t support my quad core cpus. This should do the fix!

  • User is User

Guys… do you know how to verify what is the latest SPP version installed in the server?

  • Alex

Hp is entering in the Cisco greedy retards world, where security/hardware updates= paid costumers. Fortunately, unlike Cisco, and to add insult to injury, they don’t password protect their downloads via http://ftp….yet. Wait until they find out they mess this one up.
